Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Kokonut Island Grill Llc. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of delicious Hawaiian plate lunches. Your tasks will include setting up workstations, labeling and stocking ingredients, measuring and seasoning food, and maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow the prep list to plan duties and ensure efficient kitchen operations
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves for easy access
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings for cooking
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
  • Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, etc.
  • Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees, etc.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a prep cook or in a similar role
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
  • Manual dexterity to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
  • A team player with good communication skills
  • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
  • Very good physical condition and endurance
  • Must hold a valid Food Handlers Permit or prepare to obtain one
  • High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; training from a culinary school will be an asset

Job Type: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
