Job Title: Engineering Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician to join our team at the City of Rialto, CA. As an Engineering Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our engineering design, construction, and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide customer service in person, virtually, and in writing.
  • Process engineering plans, maps, legal documents, permit applications, and permit issuance.
  • Calculate fee-based project plans and document submittals.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical project files.
  • Perform technical work in support of engineering programs, including survey and drafting work.
  • Participate in the work of a field survey crew and operate a full range of survey equipment.
  • Participate in detailed preliminary, topographic, construction, property, geodetic, and other engineering surveys.
  • Prepare legal descriptions and plat maps for right-of-way or public acquisitions.
  • Perform necessary calculations to facilitate construction staking layout of approved engineering drawings.
  • Refers to existing facility data and design standards to verify the accuracy and completeness of project data.
  • Maintain accurate, orderly, and legible field notes of survey work performed.
  • Coordinate assigned project activities with other City departments, outside consultants, and developers.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, supplemented by college-level coursework in engineering technology, drafting, engineering mathematics, or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in performing technical engineering duties.
  • Possession of a valid State of California driver's license.

  • Sick Leave: Accumulated at the rate of 4.62 hours per period (120 hours per year) with no maximum amount of accumulation.
  • Deferred Compensation: Available to supplement retirement income.
