Job Summary:

As a Pharmacy Technician in our Infusion Center, you will play a vital role in ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of infusion medications. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing sterile compounded IV, injection, and chemotherapy products under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. You will also be responsible for reviewing patient schedules, managing inventory, and maintaining a cleanroom environment to ensure compliance with regulations and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compounds, packages, and labels medications, including chemotherapy, specialty infusion medications, injections, and supportive care medications.
  • Maintains and manages cleanroom environment to ensure compliance with all regulations and patient safety.
  • Reviews patient schedules proactively to assess medications, fluids, and supplies needed for scheduled treatments.
  • Independently maintains inventory and places orders as needed for necessary drugs and supplies.
  • Ensures medication inventory reduces risk for waste by checking in orders, stocking shelves, rotating stock, processing recalls, and conducting quarterly inspections of all areas where drugs are stored in the pharmacy.
  • Performs review of infusion visits in the EHR and completes necessary documentation, including medication waste billing, NDC and lot information for compounded products, and infusion administration coding.
  • Communicates with pharmacists and nursing staff to ensure timely closing of infusion encounters.
  • Interacts with patients to obtain signatures or insurance information when needed for third-party vendors and REMS programs.
  • Assists pharmacist with intake and review of temperature excursions related to pharmaceuticals.
  • Follows all procedures for documenting and dispensing controlled substances.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
  • Two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

Work Environment:

This is a full-time position with a Monday through Friday schedule, with occasional travel to other infusion locations. You will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, collaborating with a dedicated team of pharmacists and technicians to provide exceptional patient care.
