Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team in the Allergy Outpatient department at the Cleveland Clinic. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care, collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of our allergy services.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough medical histories and physical examinations to establish a record of the patient's current health status and develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.
- Initiate appropriate lab, radiology tests, or other special tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinize lab data to identify pathophysiologic processes.
- Perform routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care, and manage simple conditions produced by infection or trauma.
- Assist in the management of more complex illness and injury, including assisting surgeons in conducting operations and taking initiative in performing evaluation and therapeutic procedures in response to life-threatening situations.
- Prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority through applicable state Board of Nursing/Medicine and CCF policy.
- Provide information and answers routine questions of patients regarding their disease, including preventive health maintenance topics such as diet, weight, smoking, and topics related to medical specialty, with basic recommendations.
- Educate patients regarding their disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects, and hazards.
- Participate in medical team rounds, collaborate with nursing, medical, and other healthcare team members regularly to ensure quality patient care.
- Refer patients to specialists as appropriate for consultation or for specialized health resources and treatment.
- Ensure continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team or with other specialty areas as necessary.
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist in applicable state(s).
- Graduate of an accredited APRN program, Physician Assistant Program, or Clinical Nurse Specialist program.
- Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or higher degree obtained from a program recognized by their practicing states Licensing Board.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) may be required based upon work setting.
- Must have arrangements with at least one physician in accordance with requirements set forth by the State Board of Nursing in applicable states.
- Must be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.
