Job Summary

As a Physical Therapist Assistant at the Spine and Joint Institute of Milwaukee, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our team of physical therapists. Your primary responsibility will be to assist physical therapists in delivering physical therapy treatments and procedures, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physical therapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures, including administering traction to relieve neck and back pain.
  • Instruct, motivate, and assist patients to learn and improve functional activities, such as walking, balance, and mobility.
  • Observe patients during treatments, compile and evaluate data on patient responses to treatments and progress, and report findings to physical therapists.
  • Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
  • Confers with physical therapy staff and other healthcare team members to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
  • Provides orientation to new physical therapist assistants and directs and gives instructions to physical therapy aides.
  • Performs clerical duties, such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering the phone, taking messages, and filling out forms.
  • Measures patient's range-of-joint motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine the effects of specific treatments or to assist physical therapists in compiling data for patient evaluations.
  • Monitors treatments administered by physical therapy aides.
