GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Retail Area Manager plays a vital role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a designated section of the Store while also managing overall operations and supervising staff during their shifts as the Manager on Duty. This position is accountable for the Store's opening and closing procedures, guiding Associates, and fostering a welcoming shopping atmosphere. They ensure that merchandise is presented effectively and that the work environment remains organized and clean.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensuring Safety and Security:

  • Recognizes that safety is paramount and consistently practices safe behaviors.
  • Maintains vigilance on the sales floor to promote a secure shopping experience, promptly addressing any unsafe conditions.
  • Oversees the security of the facility, including managing entry and exit points, conducting checks on security devices, and ensuring cash office security.
  • Clears clutter to guarantee safe access to emergency exits.
  • Responsible for customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency protocols.
  • Conducts scheduled tests of fire alarm systems and responds to alarms as necessary.

Customer Engagement:

  • Treats all customers, associates, and fellow leaders with dignity and respect.
  • Exhibits professionalism and friendliness at all times, recognizing associates through company recognition initiatives.

Brand Representation:

  • Embodies and promotes the company brand consistently.
  • Maintains a professional appearance in line with the company dress code and ensures associates comply as well.
  • Ensures that all areas of the Store are clean, well-organized, and meet merchandising standards.
  • Responsible for daily waste removal.

Merchandising Duties:

  • Ensures that recovery, sizing, and markdowns are executed according to company standards through training and task delegation.
  • Handles merchandise deliveries as required.
  • Processes merchandise promptly and efficiently.
  • Responsible for receiving non-merchandise deliveries and maintaining stockroom organization.
  • Facilitates the placement of merchandise on the sales floor once processed.
  • Ensures back-stock is secured and processed in accordance with company policies.
  • Manages the merchandising of the department, including back stock, while minimizing loss due to damage.
  • Adheres to monthly presentation guidelines in the assigned area.
  • Responsible for promotional signage and re-wraps as necessary.

Loss Prevention:

  • Understands and adheres to the Loss Prevention Awareness Program, maintaining a strong customer service presence on the sales floor.
  • Demonstrates integrity and confidentiality in all interactions with associates and customers.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of the Public View Monitor (PVM) system.
  • Conducts package inspections as required.
  • Implements company best practices to enhance productivity.

Front End Management:

  • Implements company best practices to maximize efficiency at the Front End.
  • Maintains energy and presence at the Front End, managing customer flow to reduce wait times.
  • Trains associates on cash register operations and shortage control policies.
  • Oversees break schedules for retail associates.
  • Ensures all equipment is functioning properly and maintains adequate supplies.
  • Expedites the processing of go-backs, ensuring they are properly scanned and tagged.
  • Teaches associates the best practices for scanning and bagging.
  • Ensures merchandise on the Front End is salable and well-presented.

Fitting Room Management:

  • Responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the fitting rooms.
  • Ensures compliance with garment tag audits according to company policy.
  • Maintains go-back compliance throughout the day.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Ensures cash pulls and bank deposits are conducted according to company policy.
  • Understands and adheres to policies regarding refunds and associate purchases.
  • Manages payroll administration, including scheduling compliance and payroll reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations commonly used in retail.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to operate all Store equipment, including registers and computers. Must be able to spend a significant amount of time standing and moving throughout the Store, as well as perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and using janitorial equipment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
