Chemical Safety Expert

We are seeking an experienced Chemical Safety Engineer to join our team at Eastern Research Group in Indian Head, Maryland. This is a full-time position that will support health and safety efforts. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of 29 CFR 1910 and experience in reviewing technical data packages and engineering drawings.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in chemical engineering or equivalent work experience. A licensed engineer is preferred but not required. The salary for this position is estimated to be around $90,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.
In this role, you will participate in hazard analyses of manufacturing operations, review standard operating procedures (SOPs), analyze process-start-up documentation, and develop other technical documentation. You will also support/manage safety and occupational health programs, support/participate in program compliance audits by outside organizations, serve as a key safety reviewer for process manufacturing start-up and approval, perform walkthroughs and safety and health inspections of manufacturing areas, storage facilities, test ranges, laboratories, and administrative spaces; document any recommendations, recommend procedures for detection, prevention, detection, and elimination of physical, chemical, or other product/process hazards, track the status of open actions using databases or spreadsheets, collaborate and communicate effectively with other stakeholders internal to and external to the design team (e.g., engineering department, manufacturing department), review, update, and present training on safety and occupational health topics, support mishap and incident investigations, maintain compliance with Federal, Navy, and local policies, and identify hazards in a step-by-step procedure.
