Job Summary:
This role will support the Vice President: Global Taxation in delivering the Group Tax Strategy, effective tax risk management, response to global tax policy developments, and tax advisory on strategic projects. The successful candidate will also support the Vice President: Global Taxation in partnering with the Finance and Business teams to manage tax risk across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Vice President: Global Taxation in implementing the Board-approved tax strategy and managing the Group's tax affairs, including identifying and managing tax risks.
- Provide tax advice for significant business projects, including mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
- Manage all transfer pricing matters, including transfer pricing policies, Masterfile, local file, and relevant benchmarking studies.
- Liaise with external advisors, including auditors, tax, legal, and investment banks, on tax-related matters.
- Support the Vice President: Global Taxation in dealings with revenue authorities, including managing correspondence, income tax, royalties, VAT, and PAYE.
- Manage tax audits and tax litigation, including negotiations with revenue authorities.
- Support the Vice President: Global Taxation in filing tax returns, including Country-by-Country reporting, Pillar II, Masterfile, and compliance with applicable tax law.
- Monitor developments in the tax policy and legislative landscape for the jurisdictions in which the company operates.
- Support the Vice President: Global Taxation in executing key SOX controls and managing the external audit.
- Review and support tax return preparation in the UK and SA, and other jurisdictions as required.
Requirements:
- 8 years' experience in corporate tax.
- 3 years' specialized experience in one or more of the following areas: international tax, UK tax, mergers and acquisitions, tax dispute resolution, international VAT, and PAYE.
- High degree of commercial acumen.
- Strong working experience of international tax principles, transfer pricing, tax residence, and UK tax legislation.
- Influencing executives and the ability to lead and manage people.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and tasks concurrently and work to deadlines.
- Utilizing efficient work practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage own projects and a team.
- Good accounting practices.
- An understanding of the mining industry would be an advantage.
- A proven track record of having worked in a similar role in the Tax field in Commerce, with a Big 4 Accounting firm or a Law firm.
- Significant relevant post-qualification experience is required.
- Experience interacting with executives is essential.
Technical Skills:
The successful candidate will demonstrate and display knowledge and expertise in the Tax Discipline, through tax planning and advisory skills, tax compliance skills, and tax governance skills, and in particular:

- Communicate key tax issues appropriately.
- Apply commercial acumen, including understanding the business impact of tax advice.
- Understand and apply tax law, identify opportunities, and manage the implementation of such.
- Develop ideas into practical decisions.
- Ensure that appropriate tax risk management documentation is implemented.
- Demonstrate experience of maintaining working relationships with tax authorities and other stakeholders in country.
- Analyze a whole host of information and extract the pertinent facts and make a sound tax analysis thereof.
- Demonstrate well-developed analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.

Conditions of Employment:
This is a full-time, exempt position in the Denver Office.
Compensation: $210,000-$225,000
