Surgical Technologist - KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Surgical Technologist is accountable for assisting in surgical procedures that range from routine to complex, including high-risk or trauma cases. Must be capable of circulating throughout the full spectrum of surgical operations conducted in the operating room.
- Fulfill all fundamental duties expected of a Surgical/OR Technologist, encompassing patient pre-operative and post-operative responsibilities, as well as maintaining cleanliness and inventory of sterile supplies and instruments in the operating room.
- Safely transport patients from hospital units to the operating room, ensuring proper pre-operative protocols are followed, including the administration of medications and removal of jewelry, dentures, and prosthetic devices.
- Document all patient care activities and monitor the patient's progress.
- Assist Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, and Anesthetists during the induction phase and throughout the surgical procedure.
- Provide comfort to patients who may be anxious about surgery, and engage with family members to offer information, counseling, and emotional support to alleviate anxiety regarding the patient's condition and prognosis.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as a certified Surgical Technologist/OR Technologist within the last three years is required.
- Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) must be obtained and maintained.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent standards is mandatory.
