Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Youth Care Specialist to join our team at United Methodist Children's Home. As a vital member of our residential care staff, you will play a key role in providing a safe and supportive environment for vulnerable youth.

About the Role

The Youth Care Specialist will work closely with our Program Manager to develop and implement individualized plans that cater to the unique needs and goals of each resident. This may include providing guidance on basic living skills, promoting social and emotional development, and supporting academic success.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care and supervision to residents, including assistance with daily activities and tasks.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive information.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.
  • Plan and coordinate recreational activities, outings, and events that promote socialization and fun.
  • Assist with meal preparation, ensuring nutritious and balanced diets for residents.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and maintain accurate records.
  • Implement Love and Logic principles to promote positive behavior and relationships.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to track resident progress and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident activities, progress, and challenges.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required (6 months of paid experience working with youth/families sufficient).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to pass a background check, including employment and personal references, criminal history, driving record, and Child Abuse & Neglect Registry.
  • Satisfactory physical examination, including TB skin test and drug screen.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands

This position requires frequent standing, walking, and mobility. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and participate in physically demanding activities as needed.

Estimated Salary

$45,000 - $55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
