Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced GM/HBC Manager to join our team at Albertsons. As a key member of our retail operations team, you will be responsible for directing and controlling the operation of the General Merchandise and Health, Beauty, and Cosmetics Department, including supervising and training personnel to achieve sales and profit objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service and Sales
    • Champion Company and Division customer service programs to meet or exceed division customer service goals.
    • Responsible for providing exceptional customer service in every aspect of the job.
  • Department Operations
    • Plan, organize, and direct day-to-day operations of the General Merchandise and Health, Beauty, and Cosmetics Department, including the customer service/lobby areas.
    • Conduct daily inspections of all General Merchandise and Health, Beauty, and Cosmetics Department sections and initiate corrective measures to ensure compliance with product quality, code date standards, sanitation, safety, and security requirements.
  • Inventory Management and Merchandising
    • Order general merchandise product and maintain inventory levels according to Division directives.
    • Supervise the processing of all reclamation.
  • Team Management and Development
    • Supervise, motivate, train, and participate in the hiring, transfer, and selection of all General Merchandise and Health, Beauty, and Cosmetics Department personnel.
    • Ensure that all associates are instructed in the proper performance of work duties and are knowledgeable about Company policies and procedures.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting
    • Monitor daily log sheet, purchase report, sales, and labor.
    • Communicate sales goals, department performance, and sales opportunities to department associates and other members of management to ensure positive results.
  • Compliance and Safety
    • Comply with and ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
    • Maintain accurate department records.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Requires a retail background with prior management experience related to retail operations.
    • Requires a thorough understanding of overall Company practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Requires strong written and oral communication skills, good leadership and interpersonal skills, the proven ability to manage people, and the ability to maintain composure in dealing with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
    • Basic knowledge of employment laws and workplace practices is required.
  • Physical and General Requirements
    • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
    • Must be able to reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
Work Environment

May occasionally be exposed to temperatures of approximately -20° Fahrenheit, 28° Fahrenheit, 35° Fahrenheit, while handling products in freezers, coolers, and display cases and temperatures of up to 400° Fahrenheit while handling products in ovens, hot cases, and fryers. Working conditions consist of a temperature-controlled store environment. Occasional exposure to outdoor environment with varying temperatures.
