Job Summary:

The Litigation Paralegal will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys by managing case files, conducting thorough legal research, and assisting in all phases of the litigation process. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and a comprehensive understanding of legal procedures and court rules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Organize and maintain case files, including pleadings, correspondence, discovery documents, and trial materials, ensuring seamless communication between attorneys, clients, and third parties.
  • Legal Research: Conduct in-depth legal research and gather relevant case law, statutes, regulations, and legal articles to support litigation efforts, utilizing industry-standard research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.
  • Document Preparation: Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, including motions, pleadings, subpoenas, discovery requests, and deposition summaries, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Discovery: Assist in the preparation and management of discovery processes, including the collection, review, and production of documents, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
  • Client Interaction: Serve as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and third parties, ensuring clear and professional communication, and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents with courts, both electronically and in person, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
  • Trial Preparation: Assist in the preparation for trials, including organizing exhibits, coordinating witness schedules, and preparing trial binders and other necessary materials.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating travel arrangements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. Paralegal certification is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of experience as a litigation paralegal, with a strong understanding of the litigation process.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in legal research tools such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal court rules and procedures.

Work Environment:

  • Office environment with occasional requirements to attend court proceedings or off-site locations.
  • May require extended hours to meet deadlines, especially during trial preparation.
