POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Entry-Level Responsibilities:

    • Efficiently arrange primary and specialty office appointments, considering location guidelines, patient demographics, and insurance stipulations with guidance from management.
    Responsibilities include verifying patient eligibility, obtaining necessary benefits, pre-authorizations, and referrals. The role involves accurate data entry into the EPIC system for assigned outpatient surgeries, inpatient surgeries, and diagnostic tests. The employee will confirm patient information, scheduled dates, and service locations for upcoming procedures, as well as collect any payments owed by the patient. It is essential to meet accuracy and customer service benchmarks, with an emphasis on ongoing learning and improvement through training. Adherence to all codes of conduct is required to align with the organization's mission.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • EDUCATION:
    High school diploma or equivalent

    CERTIFICATIONS:
    Preferred: Medical Terminology Certification

    SKILLS:
    Proficient with computers, basic typing, and data entry skills. Familiarity with Excel, email communication, and online insurance verification processes. Self-driven, organized, with outstanding customer service and problem-solving abilities. Understanding of health insurance and managed care principles.

EXPERIENCE:
1-2 years of experience in general or medical office settings or completion of a medical office training program within the last two years. Preferred: 1-2 years of experience in health insurance.

SUPERVISION:
Reports to: Patient Access Manager

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to remain seated for extended periods at a computer workstation, utilizing ergonomic practices. Frequent use of hands for writing, telephone, and computer tasks. Moderate physical effort required (ability to lift/carry up to 20 lbs). May encounter stressful professional interactions.
