Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is designated for individuals who primarily serve as tellers while also being trained to assist with new account processes. The main responsibility is to support the teller operations. Employees in this position deliver a range of teller and account services, including managing deposits, withdrawals, payments, welcoming customers, and maintaining account records. They operate various office equipment and assess customer needs to promote services that benefit the client. Additionally, they make suitable referrals to other departments for both traditional and innovative banking products and services. Exceptional customer service is a key focus. All activities must align with established Bank policies, procedures, and regulations, including the corporate code of conduct and the Bank Secrecy Act, as well as all relevant State and Federal laws.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitate daily deposit transactions, including handling deposits, withdrawals, holds, loan payments, and other related tasks.
  • Maintain cash drawer within designated limits and manage cash transactions with the vault as necessary.
  • Accurately count, receive, and distribute cash, ensuring proper handling of damaged or counterfeit currency.
  • Verify and balance the assigned cash drawer daily, maintaining records of cash discrepancies and assisting in identifying cash shortages.
  • Prepare necessary documentation to comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements, ensuring proper customer identification.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of compliance and regulatory matters related to teller and customer service operations.
  • Understand and implement security protocols, knowing the correct procedures in case of emergencies.
  • Keep a tidy and organized workspace, ensuring all cash, negotiables, and confidential documents are secured appropriately.
  • Exhibit proficiency in delivering outstanding customer service both in-person and over the phone, actively listening to customers and maintaining a positive demeanor.
  • Open new accounts and process account maintenance requests efficiently.
  • Proactively identify sales opportunities, promoting bank products and services to both new and existing clients.
  • Engage in sales initiatives to attract new customers and meet established sales goals.
  • Organize daily tasks to manage customer flow and banking processes effectively.
  • Continuously update knowledge of all bank products and services.
  • Participate in all required training sessions.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist colleagues within the department as needed. Responsibilities may include vault and ATM balancing, new account processing, and other assigned duties.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; or a high school senior participating in a Cooperative Education Program.
  • Previous banking experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in cash handling and customer service is preferred.
  • Basic mathematical skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in PC and typing skills is required.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance is necessary.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with customers and team members.
  • Good judgment and the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately, analyzing information and making informed decisions.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Capability to operate teller and office equipment, including computers and various office machines.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
