Job Title: Board-Certified Behavior Analyst

Join our team at the National Center on Institutions and Alternatives Inc in Baltimore, MD as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. This is a full-time position that requires a graduate degree and active status as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Behavioral Services, the Behavior Analyst will provide support to students and their families by coordinating and providing services in Applied Behavior Analysis, function analyses and assessment, behavior acquisition, and reduction procedures, and adaptive life skills. The BCBA will also supervise Behavioral Intervention Staff and oversee and monitor Behavior Supports Plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides supervision of Behavioral Intervention staff working with students.
  • Develops, writes, and implements 1:1 behavioral intervention programs for students.
  • Participates in training activities that provide instruction on Applied Behavior Analysis, discrete trial teaching techniques, management of challenging behaviors, child development, data collection techniques applicable to the student population, and recording and reporting on the behavior of individual students as assigned.
  • Assists with training and competency checklists for new and existing behavior staff.
  • Communicates with supervisory staff.
  • Prepares and conducts team meetings.
  • Monthly data collection (graphing and progress reports).
  • Introduces and trains new student programs under the guidance of the Executive Director of Education.
  • Manages and updates students' program books.
  • Conducts VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, ALFS, or other curriculum assessments adopted by YIT.
  • Develops functional behavior assessment and behavior intervention plan under the supervision and guidance of the Executive Director of Education.
  • Assists with daily changes and updates to schedule as students and/or staff are out due to illness, vacation, etc.
  • Prepares social skills, circle time, gross motor skills, and natural environment teaching.
  • Delegates stimuli prep to behavior technicians as time allows.
  • Uses technology for the completion of specified job duties.
  • Works cooperatively with others, including all staff, supervisors, administrators, co-workers, individuals served, community professionals, customers, vendors, and the public.
  • Follows instructions and abides by agency policies and procedures.
  • Assumes other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as needed.

Professional Development:
  • Attends workshops, institutes, courses, and conferences relevant to continuing professional development and management of the school's programs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current professional literature and materials, including effective school research.
  • Keeps current with the literature, new research findings, and resources. In addition, continuing education courses to maintain BCBA certification are necessary (32 credits every 2 years).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Direct supervision of Behavioral Intervention Staff
Qualifications:
  • Must have a master's degree in applied behavior analysis.
  • Must have an active status as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Must be Board Certified as a Behavior Analyst; Maryland licensure.
Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal skills as he/she must interact with various personalities daily.
  • Must be flexible, as the day will never be predictable.
  • Must possess good public speaking skills, as they may sometimes be called upon to conduct staff training sessions.
  • Computer proficiency is required.
  • Must have excellent time-management and organizational skills to perform all duties effectively.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with parents.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and responsibility and a strong work ethic.
  • A positive, high-energy attitude and a drive for personal excellence.
  • Proficient computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Behaves ethically; demonstrates an understanding of professional limitations; continues professional development by keeping abreast of current trends; keeps appointments and follows up with commitments; adheres to established regulations, policies, rules, and laws; and commends respect by example in appearance, manners behavior, and language.
Physical Demands:
  • Light duty; mostly sedentary, some walking, occasional lifting to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
  • A mix of office environment and school.
  • Some exposure to weather during travel to and from locations.
  • Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
