Job Title: Design Engineer

At Arcmed, we are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering activities related to pumps and valves, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, cost estimating, and sustaining activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead development projects related to piston pumps, ERV's, micropumps, rocker valves, and pinch valves.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure all design requirements are clearly defined and met.
  • Project manage new products through the design transfer process.
  • Design, build, and test prototypes.
  • Manage vendors through the development process of mechanical and electro-mechanical parts.
  • Cost estimating at multiple stages in the design transfer process.
  • Work in coordination with Sales to strengthen relationships with customers and their engineering teams.
  • Contribute to market research through trade associations, networking, and corporate services to facilitate new product development and research projects.
  • Design and perform experiments in a research lab, presenting results to a cross-functional team.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience with high precision fluidics.
  • Experience with fluidic systems and a detailed understanding of pumps, valves, and manifolds.
  • Preferred product design experience in the medical device industry.
  • DFA/DFM experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, injection molding, and machining.
  • Strong analysis skills (FEA, CFD).
  • Strong understanding of materials, material compatibility, and plastics.
  • Thorough understanding of GD&T and AMSE Y14.5M.
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships across functions and at all levels of the organization with confidence and authority.
  • Problem-solving and analysis skills (A3, 8D, Six Sigma, KT, Shainin), making decisions quickly to improve performance.
  • Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities, utilizing project management skills to ensure clear visibility, accountability, and action tracking.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards.
  • Desire and drive to improve business processes every day.
Education and Experience:
  • BS, MS, or PhD degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • Project Management and Leadership Skills.
  • Technical Knowledge and experience with fluid systems.
  • 3D CAD experience with Solidworks or similar.
  • Operating in a highly regulated industry (FDA, FAA, etc.).
