Job Summary
The Veterinary Technology Program is seeking to appoint a full-time Veterinary Nursing Educator.
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for delivering instruction in both classroom and clinical settings while planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the veterinary nursing curriculum.
This position is classified as Safety Sensitive in accordance with relevant statutes.Essential Duties
Large Animal Focus:
Updating and implementing the nursing curriculum, which includes topics such as handling and restraint, nutrition, diagnostic and regulatory testing, wellness and preventative management, common diseases and conditions, and medical and surgical care.
Management of in-house large animal patients, field trips, and other experiential learning opportunities for students.Engagement with program accreditation and regulatory compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from an AVMA-accredited institution is required.
Must possess a valid, unencumbered license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Oklahoma.
Must hold a valid, unencumbered registration from DEA and OBN (Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics).
Evidence of current practice with a minimum of five years of full-time equivalent experience as a veterinarian in a clinical environment prior to assuming a teaching role.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with large animals, including horses, cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs.
USDA accredited veterinarian (Levels 1 and 2).
Membership in AVMA and OVMA is preferred.
Prior teaching experience at the community college or university level is desirable.
