Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Technologist to join our team at MEDSTAR HEALTH. As a Cardiovascular Technologist, you will assist physicians with routine to complex invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures, such as cardiac catheterizations and percutaneous transluminal angioplasties.

Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians with invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures, including cardiac catheterizations and percutaneous transluminal angioplasties.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, including catheters, balloons, and guiding wires.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and hemodynamic parameters during procedures.
  • Enter patient data into the computer and connect electrocardiograph (EKG) and pulse oximeter monitors.
  • Provide physical and psychological comfort to patients before, during, and after procedures.
  • Draw arterial blood gases (ABG) as requested by physicians and perform activated coagulation time tests.
  • Prepare and clean rooms and equipment for procedures, and maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Document patient data and enter codes, charges, and equipment used into the computer for statistical and billing reports.
  • Communicate with patients and their families about procedures and post-procedure care.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED, including completion of a Cardiovascular Technologist training program and/or related college-level education in basic sciences.
  • Experience in cardiovascular laboratory procedures, particularly as relates to cardiac and vascular interventional procedures.
  • RCIS - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 1 year, or R.T.(R)(CI) - Registered Technologist in Cardiac-Interventional Radiography within 1 year.
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 days.
