Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiovascular Technologist to join our team at Medstar. As a key member of our cardiovascular laboratory, you will assist physicians with routine to complex invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians with cardiac catheterizations, percutaneous transluminal angioplasties, and other interventional procedures.
  • Perform related ancillary support activities, including preparing catheters, balloons, and guiding wires.
  • Monitor electrocardiograph (ECG), blood pressure, and other hemodynamic parameters during procedures.
  • Draw arterial blood gases (ABG) as requested by physicians.
  • Prepare and clean rooms/equipment for procedures, and maintain inventory of catheters, defibrillators, and other equipment.
  • Document required data prior to, during, and post-procedure, and enter appropriate codes/charges/equipment used into computer for statistical/billing reports.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED, including completion of a Cardiovascular Technologist training program and/or related college-level education in basic sciences.
  • Experience in cardiovascular laboratory procedures, particularly as relates to cardiac and vascular interventional procedures.
  • RCIS - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 1 year, or R.T.(R)(CI) - Registered Technologist in Cardiac-Interventional Radiography within 1 year.
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 days.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
  • Knowledge of specialized medical equipment, such as EEG, EKG, and blood analyzers.
