Job Overview

The Psychiatric Patient Care Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of patient care within the psychiatric unit. This position is designed for individuals who are dedicated to enhancing the well-being of patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Key Qualifications:
- Must possess both CNA & PCT or EMT Certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- Maryland Nursing Assistant Certification is mandatory, along with completion of an accredited training program such as a hospital-based program, community college, Emergency Medical Technician, Patient Care Technician, or Medical Corpsmen.

Responsibilities:

The Psychiatric Patient Care Associate is responsible for assisting in the provision of direct patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse. This includes:

  • Conducting basic patient care tasks and ensuring the comfort and safety of patients.
  • Monitoring patient conditions and reporting any changes to the nursing staff.
  • Assisting with essential procedures such as:
    • Fingersticks and phlebotomy
    • Application of sterile dressings
    • Tracheal suctioning and oral care
    • Maintaining infection control standards
  • Providing a safe environment for patient care, including proper use of equipment and supplies.
  • Participating in the training and orientation of new staff members.
  • Maintaining compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
