Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Registered Medical Assistant to join our team at UNM Medical Group, Inc. This is a full-time day shift opportunity located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on processing prescription prior authorizations and providing administrative support to our Behavioral Health Clinic, as well as Medical Assistant support in clinic. This is a new responsibility for the Medical Assistant team, and we are looking for someone who is flexible, works independently, and is open to learning and providing feedback.

This position will work at our Albuquerque-based outpatient clinic during regular business hours (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm) and may have the opportunity to work from home after 6 months.

As a Certified Registered Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for performing a range of administrative and clinical tasks, including patient registration, scheduling appointments, and handling insurance verification. You will also manage patient interactions, gather patient data and medical history, and execute routine Medical Assistant duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform administrative and clinical tasks, including patient registration, scheduling appointments, and handling insurance verification.
  • Manage patient interactions, gather patient data and medical history, and execute routine Medical Assistant duties.
  • Process prescription prior authorizations and provide administrative support to our Behavioral Health Clinic.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in Medical Assisting.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Medical Assistant Program Graduate Certificate.
  • Current Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.
  • BLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing Community Health Worker services to medically and socially complex populations.
  • Experience providing social support services to people living with HIV/AIDS.
  • Experience working with the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Experience working in a community-based multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
