Academic Advisor

Join Kirtland Community College as an Academic Advisor and play a vital role in shaping the academic journey of our students. As a key member of our Student Services team, you will provide guidance and support to students as they navigate their academic path.

• Advise students on academic programs, including graduation and transfer requirements.
• Audit and monitor student academic progress, identifying areas for improvement and providing targeted support.
• Develop and implement educational plans, helping students clarify their academic goals and choose the right program of study.
• Educate students on course planning and registration processes, referring them to relevant resources as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of college programs and requirements, consulting with transfer institutions to ensure seamless transitions.
• Develop and interpret Academic Planning Guides, maintaining administrative and program information files.
• Communicate effectively with students, high school staff, and colleagues to provide information about college programs and services.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in academic advising or related careers in post-secondary education.
• Ability to learn complex computer systems and software.
• Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to analyze information and respond appropriately.
• Experience in group presentations.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Typical office environment with frequent oral communication, data entry, and written communication. Occasional evening and weekend work for presentations and events.
