Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Coder II to join our team at Northwestern Medical Center. As a key member of our Revenue Cycle department, you will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data and apply appropriate ICD 10 CM, PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes for billing, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance.

Under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Manager and HIM Supervisor, you will accurately code inpatient and observation conditions and procedures as documented in the ICD Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, with expert knowledge of MCC/CC's. You will also resolve error reports associated with the billing process, identify and report error patterns, and assist in design and implementation of workflow changes to reduce billing errors.

Responsibilities
  • Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data and apply appropriate codes
  • Accurately code inpatient and observation conditions and procedures

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Completion of medical record coding from an accredited school
