About the Role:

Homes for the Homeless is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team at our Families with Children facility in the Bronx. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and cleanliness of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure the facility operates efficiently and the physical condition of the site does not deteriorate.
  • Effectively handle service requests and work orders.
  • Repair and maintain building fixtures, including drywall, painting, doors, and locks.
  • Assess and repair issues related to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general carpentry.
  • Identify and report building deficiencies or needs to the supervisor.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with unit inspections.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two years of experience in general maintenance.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and drywall repairs.
  • Familiarity with the proper use of power tools.
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize computers and related technology efficiently.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
  • Capable of performing duties with limited supervision.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule.
