Job Description: Senior Accounting Specialist

Overview:

The Senior Accounting Specialist will oversee General Ledger responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager. This position involves reconciling financial statements, performing account assessments for balance sheet items, and managing unique assignments from the Manager or Director of Finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and document entries in accordance with established guidelines for assigned entities.
  • Assist in the monthly closing procedures.
  • Conduct and evaluate bank reconciliations and record journal entries to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Manage the entire accounting cycle for financial statement preparation, including creating and posting journal entries, analyzing financial outcomes, and drafting financial reports.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality completion of all assigned tasks.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to facilitate effective contract processing and accurate revenue recognition.
  • Prepare and review reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
  • Guarantee timely and efficient completion of all reporting schedules.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a prompt manner.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in Finance and other departments to implement changes and complete special projects.
  • Provide financial insights and support to team members and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements through automation, consolidation, or reengineering.
  • Conduct ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and modeling as requested by management.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in general ledger accounting.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, self-driven, and proactive.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, formulas, and tables.
  • CAM License required to be obtained within the first year of employment.

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • 3+ years of general ledger accounting experience.
  • Experience in relevant accounting sectors preferred.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with accounting software preferred.
  • Community Association Manager's (CAM) License.
