About the Opportunity

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking a highly skilled Vessel Project Engineer - Electrical Systems to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the construction, renovation, and preservation of electrical systems on our ferries to ensure the safety, reliability, and resiliency of our vessels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify conformity of contractor work products to contract requirements and negotiate contract change orders.
  • Develop technical specifications and manage engineering efforts.
  • Coordinate and implement stakeholder inputs from design agents, operators, and leaders.
  • Review engineering drawings, calculations, and plans for acceptance and approval by the state.
  • Monitor and manage project status and report schedule and budget updates to leadership.
  • Supervise the inspection program and technical consultants.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, structural, and safety laws, regulations, and policies.
Requirements
  • 6 years of experience as an owner's representative or shipyard project-level supervisor responsible for managing the construction, repair, overhaul, or renovation of marine vessels or allied systems under a commercial or governmental shipyard contract.
  • 2 years of experience as a Professional Engineer or Marine Engineer in engineering design, electrical systems integration, nuclear power, or electronic technology.
  • OR 5 years of experience as a digital system integrator, power, electronic, or control system technician, with project-level responsibility for repair, overhaul, renovation, or construction of communication, power, or industrial control systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in electronic or electrical engineering.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Experience with scheduling, tracking, and managing critical paths using Microsoft Projects.
