Your contribution will be vital in aiding children to reach their communication objectives and enhance their overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assist in performing initial assessments, follow-up evaluations, and screenings to identify communication disorders and speech-language challenges in pediatric patients.
- Collect and document pertinent patient information, including medical history, developmental milestones, and prior therapy records.
- Treatment Planning and Implementation:
- Work in partnership with licensed Speech-Language Pathologists to create tailored treatment plans that cater to individual patient needs and aspirations.
- Execute therapy sessions as directed, employing suitable techniques and exercises to foster communication skills in children.
- Patient Interaction:
- Establish a trusting relationship with pediatric patients and their families to cultivate a supportive therapeutic environment.
- Engage children in therapeutic activities and exercises to promote speech and language development.
- Progress Monitoring:
- Accurately document patient progress and outcomes, maintaining organized records and reports.
- Provide regular updates to the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist regarding patient performance and necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Maintain consistent communication with caregivers and families about the patient's progress in therapy.
- Therapy Materials and Resources:
- Prepare and manage therapy materials, equipment, and resources required for sessions.
- Stay informed about the latest speech-language therapy techniques and tools, integrating them into therapy as appropriate.
- Offer monthly activity suggestions for parents and caregivers.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Effectively communicate with parents, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and provide guidance on home-based exercises and activities.
- Participate in team meetings and case discussions to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
- Engage in monthly meetings to create materials for treatment and connect with colleagues who are also new to the field.
- Compliance and Ethics:
- Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in the field of speech-language pathology.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy are maintained at all times.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Communication Disorders.
- State licensure or Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) certification.
- Previous experience working with pediatric populations is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when interacting with children and their families.
- Proficient in utilizing therapy tools and equipment.
- A commitment to ongoing education and professional development in the field.
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time position.
- Therapy sessions are conducted Monday through Thursday, with Fridays allocated for make-up visits, paperwork, and supervisor meetings.
- Working hours are from 9 am to 5 pm.
- The role may involve travel to various practice locations.
