About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Athletic Trainer to join our sports medicine team at Daemen University. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing athletic training services to our intercollegiate athletic teams and club sports, working closely with our Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine & Performance and other qualified medical personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide athletic training services, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary.
  • Assist in staffing and the day-to-day operations of the athletic training facilities.
  • Follow established emergency action plans for the University's athletic facilities as well as for off-campus venues.
  • Advise coaches and/or strength and conditioning staff of flexibility, strengthening and conditioning programs to help prevent injuries and optimize performance.
  • Maintain accurate medical records on all injuries, treatment, rehabilitation, and physician referrals.
  • Assist with the responsibility of maintaining the athletic training room file system.
  • Serve as a liaison for student-athletes between physicians, coaches, athletes, parents, and other health care providers as needed.
  • Apply a team approach with the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine & Performance and sport coaches to ensure that student-athletes participate only when physically able and that any physician instructions are understood and followed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training, Exercise Science, Health or Human Performance or related field.
  • Masters degree and previous collegiate Athletic Training experience preferred.
  • Strong time management, interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work long periods under conditions requiring moderate physical demands.
  • Tolerate long periods of standing, frequent bending, stooping, walking, and lifting.
  • Requires exposure of outdoor elements and the ability to tolerate extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel with teams when necessary.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Total Compensation

Daemen University offers a robust total compensation package that includes:

  • Health insurance with an option of two plans: an HSA plan with the deductible funded by employer HSA contributions, or a copay plan.

  • 9 month position, $25,000 - $35,000.
