About the Role:

The Special Projects Group of KPFF Consulting Engineers is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Seattle, WA.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative solutions for waterfront and industrial infrastructure projects.

You will work closely with our team to refine your expertise in waterfront infrastructure, design, project management, and delivering exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply your engineering expertise to diverse projects, collaborating with teams to devise innovative solutions.
  • Contribute to projects involving waterfront infrastructure and industrial developments, leveraging your skills to drive successful outcomes.
  • Assess risks and develop mitigation strategies to contribute to project success.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle, including understanding regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Identify and overcome challenges through innovative problem-solving approaches.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (with a structural emphasis)
  • MS in Civil Engineering preferred (with a structural emphasis)
  • PE required
  • SE preferred
  • Concrete steel and timber design experience
  • Pile design and bulkhead wall experience
  • Prestressed concrete and seismic design experience
  • Knowledge of ASCE 61-14, AASHTO, IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, ACI, and NDS
  • Proficiency in SAP2000, L-Pile, MS Excel, and VBA
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven capability to work dynamically and effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for developing design and project management skills
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional client service and exceeding expectations

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.

Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.

Occasionally visiting project locations and performing field inspections which may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.

Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving.
