Job Responsibilities
  • Preparing and administering medications to patients and residents in post-acute care facilities
  • Overseeing residents' self-administration of medications, providing reminders as necessary
  • Confirming the correct individual, medication, dosage, route, and timing against the Medication Administration Record (MAR)
  • Documenting interventions, vital signs, and other relevant data related to medication administration
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of residents
  • Reporting any issues or concerns to the supervising nurse
  • Assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs)
Qualifications and Skills
  • Current Maryland Licensed Medication Assistant (LMA) certification
  • High school diploma or GED (minimum requirement)
  • Current state nursing assistant certification (CNA/LNA/STNA)
  • At least 1 year of experience as a nursing assistant or in a related role
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Familiarity with pharmacological and medical terminology
