Position Overview

The Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a dedicated Surgical Physician Assistant to join our esteemed Surgery/Colon & Rectal team. This role is integral to our commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services. As part of our organization, you will contribute to a renowned healthcare system that prioritizes high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

The Surgical Physician Assistant will engage in a standard work schedule of 80 hours over a two-week period, primarily during daytime hours with no weekend obligations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing assistance in the Outpatient Clinic, evaluating and managing patient care.
  • Supporting surgical operations, including endoscopic procedures as required.
  • Facilitating robotic surgery processes for colorectal conditions when necessary.
  • Educating and caring for patients with colostomy and ileostomy needs.
  • Assisting with office-based procedures for patients with anorectal conditions.
  • Instructing patients on surgical site infection prevention and bowel preparation protocols.
  • Conducting rounds for inpatients with colorectal conditions.
  • Collaborating with the Gastrointestinal team for comprehensive care of IBD patients.
  • Screening patients for HIV and HPV using high-resolution anoscopy.
  • Monitoring and following up on diagnostic results for colorectal cancer patients.
Qualifications
  • Valid Physician Assistant certification and license.
  • Current registration as a Physician Assistant in New York State.
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • ACLS and BLS certification required.
