Clinical Coordinator Job Summary

The Roseland Community Hospital is seeking a skilled Clinical Coordinator to oversee the functions of clinical staff in the Department operations. This role requires a strong leader who can facilitate the delivery of healthcare services and assist with staffing needs for the units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide unit shift coverage when staffing needs are not meeting minimal guidelines.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of staff education, orientation, and specific job-related training for new employees.
  • Collect and record data for quality assurance and performance improvement.
  • Provide customer service and patient advocacy.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, make assignments, and establish goals and priorities for nursing and support staff.
  • Supervise the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Ensure clinical services meet accrediting standards for Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP).
  • Serve as a resource and mentor in clinical situations.
  • Assess available resources, patient unit needs, and assign staffing accordingly.
  • Participate in the development of performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback regarding levels of competency for clinical staff.
  • Resolve problems encountered by employees or patients during the assigned shift.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the interview and hiring process.
  • Ensure safety and quality improvement standards are followed by all clinical staff.
  • Assist with the interpretation of policies and procedures developed by RCH.
  • Assist in monitoring departmental budget.
  • Maintain personnel productivity at acceptable levels for unit standards.
  • Perform full-performance-level professional nursing work and enhance professional growth and development through participation in staff development education, reviewing current literature, in-service meetings, workshops, and research.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing with current credentials as a Registered Nurse.
  • 2-4 years' nursing experience required.
  • A BSN degree preferred.
  • Valid State of Illinois Nursing License required.
  • CPR certification required. ACLS certification required. PCCN, Telemetry, or Medical Surgical certification preferred.
  • Integrity and honesty are required to maintain trustworthiness.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating understanding and empathy for patients and staff who are difficult and distressed.
  • Good team-building skills and manages group processes.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Decision-making skills are required to make well-informed and objective decisions. Conflict management is required to minimize disagreements, complaints, and grievances.
