We are a locally owned and operated HVAC company seeking a skilled Plumbing Service Technician to join our team. As a Plumbing Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to work under the direction of a journeyman and/or master plumber, repairing plumbing systems, identifying repair and/or replacement needs, and ensuring adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to complete projects/work orders efficiently.
  • Diagnose problems and/or failures in plumbing systems, including locating and repairing water leaks, broken or frozen pipes, and plugged drains.
  • Install various domestic water and drain systems, including hot water, chilled water, sewer, storm water, air, and gas systems.
  • Maintain tools and/or equipment to ensure the availability of plumbing systems in safe operating condition.
  • Prepare written materials, such as scope of work, work orders, bids, and equipment inventory, to document activities and provide written support.
  • Repair various items, systems, and/or components, including toilets, sinks, vents, faucets, water softeners, garbage disposals, sewer lines, vacuum breakers, hot water heaters, and sewer line blockages.
  • Repair various types of pipes, including iron, steel, copper, clay, plastic, and cement pipes.
  • Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability of required items.
  • Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns.
  • Test for leaks in new and repaired systems using compressed air and/or water.
  • Transport various items, including tools, equipment, and supplies, to ensure availability of materials required at the job site.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and background check.
  • Desire to learn and willingness to commit to learning a trade.
  • Mechanical experience or aptitude.
  • Integrity and strong core values.
  • Goal-oriented.
  • Ability to work hours that may include evenings and weekends.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor to reflect well on the trade and business.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Lives within the Altruistic AC & Heating service area.
  • Self-driven to provide exemplary service.
  • Willingness to work in extreme conditions, such as cold, wet, hot, confined space, and working in and around raw sewage.
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 20 feet in height, work on scissor lifts and mechanical booms up to 30 feet in height, crawl under buildings through access points as small as 20 inches x 15 inches, and work in areas of restricted space such as attics.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
