Position Summary:

We are seeking a full-time Grower to support various nursery responsibilities at PRT. This role involves assisting in the production of premium forest seedling crops by applying effective nursery practices. The Grower will have the opportunity to operationally assist, coordinate, and mentor nursery workers in essential tasks.

Daily Responsibilities:

The Grower will engage in a dynamic, physically active role within a safe work environment, contributing to a career that positively impacts the world. Key responsibilities include:

  • Executing water, fertilization, and greenhouse cultural programs as outlined in Crop Prescriptions.
  • Utilizing the Argus Environmental Control System for irrigation, climate management, and alarm settings.
  • Monitoring seedling growth through morphological assessments and tissue nutrient evaluations.
  • Conducting inspections for pests and diseases, implementing control measures as necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate records, including computerized documentation.
  • Inspecting and maintaining Argus monitoring equipment and software.
  • Overseeing and training seasonal irrigation staff.
  • Educating nursery workers on safe and efficient practices in weeding, quality control, and cultural methods.
  • Adhering to a company-directed Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program for pesticide applications.
  • Providing regular feedback on growing programs to the Production Manager.
  • Cleaning and replacing filters as needed.
  • Inspecting irrigation lines and mixing equipment for functionality.
  • Assisting with inventory management of crops and growing materials.
  • Encouraging collaboration and teamwork across all levels.
  • Setting production targets and evaluating outcomes.
Team Environment:

The Grower will collaborate with other nursery staff under the guidance of the Production Manager. This position is located in a picturesque region, offering year-round activities and stunning scenery.

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License and dependable transportation.
  • Familiarity with greenhouse equipment and climate control systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Capability to perform basic maintenance on greenhouse and irrigation systems.
  • Physical ability to climb, stand, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pesticide Applicator Certificate.
  • A degree in horticulture or relevant experience in forest seedling nurseries.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).
  • Experience with greenhouse monitoring software and hardware, preferably Argus.
