Position Overview:
Join a dedicated team focused on animal welfare and conservation. We are seeking a Wildlife Care Specialist to contribute to the care of elephants and rhinos.

Key Responsibilities:
Your role will encompass a variety of essential functions, including but not limited to:

  • Providing daily husbandry and nutrition for assigned animals, ensuring adherence to approved dietary guidelines.
  • Conducting thorough observations of animal behavior to monitor health and well-being, promptly reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Executing animal handling and restraint techniques in accordance with established protocols.
  • Engaging with visitors through educational presentations and interactive experiences at exhibits.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of animal care and health.
  • Assisting veterinary staff during medical procedures and emergencies.
  • Implementing species-specific enrichment activities to promote natural behaviors.
  • Collaborating with team members to complete area projects and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A high school diploma or GED; an associate degree or higher is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of paid experience in animal care within an accredited institution.
  • Certifications in SCUBA and First Aid, as applicable.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A self-motivated and goal-oriented approach to work.
  • Knowledge of zoonotic disease prevention and safety protocols.

Additional Requirements:
Candidates must be able to:

  • Work in various weather conditions typical of the region.
  • Engage in physical activities, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Adapt to varying shifts, including nights and weekends.
