NISC IV) Team, delivering expertise to the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Infrastructure Engineering Center.

This role involves a blend of in-office and remote work, with occasional travel requirements.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide engineering support to the Infrastructure Engineering Center, focusing on the development of project engineering packages.
  • Create tailored project plans and specifications for the solicitation and contracting of engineering projects, ensuring FAA approval and acceptance.
  • Conduct site surveys to gather specific project data and review all relevant standards, construction codes, and regulations.
  • Analyze findings from site surveys and propose solutions to identified challenges.
  • Draft summary reports promptly following site visits.

Project Documentation:
  • Compile essential project documents, including scope of work and transmittal.
  • Maintain lists of drawings and specifications.
  • Complete Operational Risk Management checklists.
  • Provide necessary information for Purchase Requests (PR) and NAS Change Proposals (NCP).
  • Prepare Airspace case documents and assess engineering impacts on Environmental & Safety Compliance.
  • Estimate project costs and timelines according to FAA standards.

Technical Support:

Deliver engineering assistance throughout all phases of new construction and renovation projects, including evaluating shop drawings and design proposals to ensure compliance with contract specifications.

Engage in Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI) for all assigned projects, offering recommendations for resolution on engineering-related issues.

Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate cost versus benefits and provide technical insights to the Government Technical Interpreter for project planning and coordination.

Develop project drawings adhering to FAA standards and guidelines.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Structural Engineering Design, particularly with tower, shelter, and similar structures, or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with Unstaffed Infrastructure Sustainment (UIS) facilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in AUTOCAD.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, general construction techniques, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), fire detection, security, and site work.
