Job Summary

UPMC Presbyterian is seeking a full-time Cardiovascular MRI Technologist to join our team. This position will consist of daylight shifts, Monday through Friday, with no weekend, holiday, or call responsibilities.

This is a great opportunity to be part of UPMC's only designated cardiac MRI in the Pittsburgh area. You will work closely with our physicians and fellows to further your knowledge of cardiac imaging and disease processes. No cardiac experience? Don't worry, our team will train you.

Responsibilities:

  • Works directly with supervising physicians regarding protocol development.
  • Able to learn to prescribe basic cardiac imaging planes: 4, 3, 2 chamber; short axis within 3 months of hire.
  • Demonstrates complete operation of specialty equipment, analyzes data promptly, and completes quality control activities.
  • Able to learn to post process basic cardiac MRI: LVEF and RVEF; pulmonic and systemic flow within 3 months.
  • Demonstrates the ability to function independently and is able to cover off shifts and perform services at satellite facilities, where applicable, while continually communicating with lead and management team after 6-8 months in Cardiac MR.
  • Competently performs basic cardiac MR studies within 6 months of hire and maintains MR safety in the department, addresses patient safety through proper patient identification, labeling/preparation/and administration of contrast and communicating according to standard operating procedures, completes procedures according to protocol while presenting relevant information to physician, and updates and documents patient information into rad assessment.
  • Performs or assists Clinical Specialist in performing QA, regulatory testing, and other technical and research initiatives.
  • Participates in standardization activities with system-level work groups.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of formal training in an accredited MRI-related program and/or ARRT (MR) certification.
  • 2 years MRI experience required.
  • Demonstration of active interest in either cardiac MR or in general MRI education (e.g. shadowing, prior cardiac MR experience, involvement in MR education activities).

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • ARRT (MR) Certified
  • CPR or BLS Required.
  • Act 33, 34, 73 or as required by business unit.
  • ARRT Certificate
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 34
