Position Overview

As a Precision Machinist, you will be responsible for operating various machines and working with a range of materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set machine parameters for optimal operation.
  • Calculate precise cutting or boring locations.
  • Shape materials including steel, aluminum, titanium, plastic, and silicon.
  • Adjust feed rates and speeds for workpieces.
  • Determine the quantity of material to be removed.
  • Select appropriate tools and materials for each task.
  • Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing processes.
  • Position workpieces accurately on machinery.
  • Monitor and control feed rates and operational speeds.
  • Ensure proper lubrication and cooling of workpieces.
  • Regulate workpiece temperatures as necessary.
  • Identify issues through auditory cues.
  • Modify cutting speeds to address vibrations.
  • Verify the precision of cuts.
  • Replace worn cutting tools as needed.
  • Check work against established specifications.
  • Produce high-quality components.
  • Determine cutting paths for automated equipment.
  • Translate path, speed, and feed data into machine instructions.
  • Utilize both manual and computer-controlled machinery.
  • Write and adjust basic programming as required.
  • Maintain safety standards by adhering to established procedures.
  • Document and communicate operational actions and needs across shifts.
  • Complete production time sheets accurately.
  • Contribute to organizational goals by embracing new challenges and seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; certification in Machine Tool Technology or equivalent experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

This role involves physical demands typical of a manufacturing environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Frequent activities include standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and stooping. Employees may need to lift and/or move weights ranging from 10 to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
