Job Overview

Rome Memorial Hospital is in search of a Finance Manager who will report directly to the Controller. The Finance Manager will oversee:

  • Leading a team of analysts responsible for financial analysis and reporting within the hospital.
  • Managing all facets of data compilation and reconciliation necessary for the preparation of the New York State Institutional Cost Report and Medicare Cost Report.
  • Overseeing the preparation of data and projections included in the hospital's Annual Budget.
  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of all required surveys for the hospital, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial reporting, and contributing to the Finance reports for the Board of Directors.
  • Assisting with the Hospital's 990 tax filing responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participating as a member of the hospital leadership team; leading the analysts, ensuring appropriate resources are allocated to meet deadlines, complete necessary reporting, and promote team development.
  • Overseeing all aspects of the hospital's business intelligence reporting, including Management and Productivity Reporting.
  • Utilizing the hospital's data to generate reports and analyze information for departmental profit and loss assessments.
  • Directing and managing the completion of ICR exhibits to finalize the annual Institutional Cost Report.
  • Completing required surveys and hospital reporting, including:
  • Profit & Loss Statements — maintaining them on a timely basis.
  • Budget revenue modeling, managing the annual budget completion, including volume-based adjustments to annual revenue forecasts.
  • Supporting hospital audit requirements.
  • Conducting 'what-if' analyses and assessments for new services.
  • Assisting with reimbursement and ROI analysis.
  • Performing additional functions for the Finance Department as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in hospital finance, financial analytics, or business intelligence is preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

A comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, cost accounting, budgeting, and reimbursement processes is essential.

Familiarity with office terminology, procedures, and equipment is necessary.

An understanding of third-party reimbursement from governmental and other insurers is important.

Proficiency in financial accounting systems, finance/billing systems, and database management is required.

Strong oral and written communication skills, analytical abilities, and computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheet software (Excel), are essential. The candidate must demonstrate problem-solving capabilities and decisive leadership.
