Compensation Range:
$65,000 - $95,000
Position Overview:
The Senior Cost Accountant is primarily responsible for managing the month-end and year-end closing processes, conducting detailed account analyses, evaluating financial outcomes, researching and resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
This role necessitates advanced skills in accounting, business analysis, and process enhancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the completion of monthly and quarterly accounting tasks within cost accounting.
- Prepare cost analyses for new products and collaborate with project teams to provide metrics for product development decisions.
- Lead initiatives for cost requests, including auditing costs, bills of materials, and routing.
- Support the annual review of inventory standard costs and prepare labor and overhead rate assessments in conjunction with operations finance.
- Analyze month-end results and reconcile inventory-related general ledger accounts, providing detailed analysis to management and business partners.
- Assist management in making informed decisions by reviewing, analyzing, and explaining financial reports.
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial packages for analysis and review.
- Monitor compliance with corporate policies and processes, assisting operational plants in resolving accounting issues.
- Participate in the development and monitoring of company-wide accounting policies and procedures related to inventory and standard costing.
- Take a lead role in coordinating with necessary internal departments to achieve accounting objectives and other corporate goals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- CPA or CMA license or candidate preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience and/or training; manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with ERP systems is required; Microsoft Dynamics AX2012 experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Power BI is a plus.
