Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee management and administrative functions within the laboratory.
- Develop and implement policies, ensuring regulatory compliance and quality assurance.
- Supervise laboratory supervisors, clinical staff, and support personnel.
Key Skill Requirements:
- Expertise in managing and authoring laboratory processes and procedures.
- Ability to train and present technical information effectively to staff.
- Experience in quality assurance and quality control within laboratory settings.
- Fiscal management and budgeting capabilities.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Evaluating laboratory operations in consultation with pathologists and reporting results as per hospital and public health protocols.
- Ensuring optimal performance of medical laboratory equipment through the development of operational, quality, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Maintaining inventory of medical laboratory supplies and anticipating future needs.
- Monitoring laboratory productivity, identifying peak and slack periods.
- Participating in the hospital's quality assurance program, performing proficiency surveys, and reviewing quality control and assurance programs.
- Managing laboratory staff through recruitment, orientation, training, counseling, and performance evaluations.
- Complying with state and professional continuing education licensure requirements.
- Contributing to benchwork as necessary.
Education, Certification, & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in biology.
- Preferred certifications: MLS(ASCP), SBB(ASCP).
- A minimum of two years of experience in a leadership role.
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
