Job Summary

The Charge Nurse position is a critical role that requires a seasoned professional with exceptional clinical leadership and interpersonal skills. As a key member of the healthcare team, the Charge Nurse will facilitate and support the clinical and operational needs of individual ambulatory care areas in partnership with clinic leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day operations to ensure safe throughput and access to care.
  • Collaborate with leaders to ensure staffing meets patient needs, using established guidelines.
  • Accurately document within labor management software to ensure fiscal stewardship.
  • Support team members in non-patient care activities, such as professional development and practice environment problem-solving.
  • Promote patient experience through support of team member-identified needs, service recovery, and problem-solving.
  • Coordinate support services as needed to address patient needs, engaging with the team, patients, and visitors to optimize the patient experience.
  • Promote closed-loop communication and collaboration between team members, clinical disciplines, and ancillary departments.
  • Manage the care environment to ensure regulatory and safety standards are met.
  • Facilitate team huddles and use of visual management boards to promote communication.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or currently enrolled in an accredited nursing BSN/MSN program that will be completed within 5 years of hire.
  • Experience as an RN Clinician 2 or higher, with 6 months of employment on the unit or previous Charge Nurse experience from another department/organization.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
Physical Demands

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent travel, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills are necessary, as well as attention to detail and the ability to write legibly. The ability to lift/push/pull lbs. may be required, and the individual may be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
