Job Title: Registered Nurse 1, Outpatient Pediatric Infusion

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse 1, Outpatient Pediatric Infusion to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse 1, Outpatient Pediatric Infusion is a full-performance level nurse position responsible for providing direct nursing care to individuals in accordance with Article 139 of the Education Law. The successful candidate will work under the general direction of a higher-level registered nurse or licensed healthcare provider and will be responsible for supervising nursing care activities, providing clinical supervision and training to Graduate Nurses (T&RC), Teaching & Research Center Licensed Practical Nurses, and direct care staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Administer medications, perform treatment procedures, and monitor individuals' conditions.
  • Record and maintain accurate and detailed medical records and nursing care plans.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and revision of individual care plans.
  • Modify nursing care plans based on individual condition and responses to care and treatment.
  • Triage individuals by inquiring about illnesses, injuries, and symptoms, and records findings and observations.
  • Assess findings and either refers individuals directly to a physician in emergency cases or initiates appropriate remedial action.
  • Provide education and counseling to individuals and families regarding health, medications, procedures, and treatment goals.
  • Practice and ensure compliance with established infection control policies and procedures.
  • Train paraprofessional staff by demonstrating nursing techniques and providing instructions on use of techniques and nursing equipment.
Requirements:
  • Current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • 1-year of relevant clinical experience preferred.
Work Schedule:

Variable Days; 7:30am to 8:00pm (Full-Time)

Salary Grade/Rank:

SG-18

Salary Range:

As per civil service guidelines

* $101,264 to $122,056 based on years of experience and education (includes Location Pay & Geographic Differential) plus shift and/or inconvenience pay of $575 to $5,375, if applicable.
