Science Educator for Youth Development

**Job Summary:**

The State of Maryland is seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Educator to join our team at the Victor Cullen Center. As a Science Educator, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience of our youth, fostering a love for science, and empowering them to reach their full potential.

**About the Role:**

As a Science Educator, you will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging lesson plans that cater to the unique needs, learning styles, and abilities of our students. You will also employ a variety of teaching strategies, methodologies, and technologies to enhance student engagement and facilitate effective learning experiences.

**Responsibilities:**

* Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment where students feel valued, respected, and motivated to learn.
* Design and deliver engaging lesson plans that cater to the unique needs, learning styles, and abilities of students.
* Employ a variety of teaching strategies, methodologies, and technologies to enhance student engagement and facilitate effective learning experiences.
* Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback and individualized support to promote academic success.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, counselors, and administrators, to develop holistic plans for student success and address individual challenges effectively.
* Utilize restorative practices and conflict resolution techniques to foster positive relationships among students and encourage a sense of accountability and responsibility.
* Act as a mentor and positive role model, demonstrating empathy, patience, and understanding while promoting positive behavior and responsible decision-making.
* Communicate regularly and effectively with students' families or guardians, keeping them informed about academic progress, behavior, and any concerns that may arise.
* Stay updated with the latest educational research, best practices, and interventions for working with youth, continually refining teaching strategies and approaches.
* Participate in professional development opportunities, workshops, and training.

**Requirements:**

* Possession of a Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Secondary Education Educators Licensure in Science.
* One year of teaching experience, including internship.
* Ability to acquire and maintain certification to teach in the State of Maryland.
