Special Education Teacher

Amergis is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing quality services to students with diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, administrators, and department team members.
- Support students with a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.
- Design instruction that parallels the general education curriculum, ensuring students receive a comprehensive education.
- Assist parents, administrators, and other professionals in developing educational plans that promote students' educational, physical, and social development.
- Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Coordinate IEP implementation with general education staff, ensuring seamless integration of special education services.
- Monitor student progress, participate in review and revision of IEPs, and maintain accurate student records.
- Mentor and support teaching assistants who provide support to students with disabilities.
- Support students in preparation for grade transitions and life skills development.
- Assess students' skills and educational needs, tracking their performance and progress.
- Communicate with students, parents, and other teachers to maintain positive relationships and ensure student success.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (preferred).
- Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract, or district regulations.
- Minimum of one year experience in a teaching environment (preferred).
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching (preferred).
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching (preferred).
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching (preferred).
- Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) (preferred).
- Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program (when applicable).
- Current CPR (if applicable).
- TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable).
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
- Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training (as applicable to the job site).
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to effectively communicate with and from appropriate individuals (including supervisors, coworkers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
