Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate Costs: Compile estimates of cost on special parts or products as a basis for pricing purposes.
  • Interpret Engineering Data: Interpret engineering layouts and data to ensure accurate estimates.
  • Maintain Industry Knowledge: Maintain thorough knowledge of Detroit auto industry base suppliers for design and manufacturing of details and components.
  • Estimate Labor Hours: Estimate labor hours for various tasks, including mechanical and electrical design, fabrication, piping, assembly, installation supervision, machining, wiring, and try-out.
  • Estimate Construction Costs: Estimate construction costs of proposed equipment, including raw materials and purchased components.
  • Negotiate Changes: Negotiate changes with customers and project managers.
  • Utilize Spreadsheets: Utilize and work with project specialists to fine-tune standard spreadsheets with standard costs.
  • Maintain Design Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of designs, manufacturing processes, and procedures with direct experience in welding, automation, and/or robotic equipment.
  • Convert Estimates to Budgets: Work with the Project Services Group to convert estimates into budgets if proposals become projects.
  • Develop Proposals: Develop written proposals describing proposed scope of work and estimated costs.
  • Develop Presentations: Develop necessary presentations with account executives to assist in closing business.
  • Develop Standard Proposal Format: Develop and maintain standard proposal format for the group, involving close interaction with engineering, manufacturing, and project services.
  • Solicit Quotations: Solicit quotations for support equipment required as part of KUKA's proposal, including generating inquiries and defining scope of work for sub-suppliers.
  • Maintain Software Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of PC-based software, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Understand Safety and Environmental Regulations: Understand and follow safety and environmental regulations, identifying safety and environmental concerns.
  • Adhere to Quality System: Adhere to the Quality System and participate in continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel: Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or two to four years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
