Job Title: Health Educator

Vista Community Clinic is a private, non-profit, multi-specialty outpatient clinic providing comprehensive, high-quality care to the community.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Health Educator to join our team. As a Health Educator, you will play a vital role in promoting health and wellness in our community by providing HIV health education, counseling, and testing services.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct outreach and provide HIV health education, counseling, and testing services to individuals and groups.
  • Work with individuals to assess their risk and needs, and enroll those who are appropriate into an individualized risk reduction program.
  • Internal and external program reporting to ensure the success of our health education initiatives.
  • Oversee the completion of program objectives and recommend changes in scope as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison and assist with collaborative support activities with community agencies, local government representatives, and other VCC project staff.
Qualifications
  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent with four years of experience in community education and/or direct patient services.
  • Valid California driver's license, current vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • B.A./B.S. degree or A.A. degree with two years of experience in community education.
  • Experience assisting clients in social services and health care access; knowledge and experience providing HIV/AIDS education and information.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to HIV disease.
Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
  • Knowledge of HIV-related social and emotional issues, demonstrated competency in working with culturally diverse, low-income or no-income clients.
  • Ability to present information accurately and effectively both verbally and in writing to individuals and groups.
  • Good verbal and written skills necessary for communication with patients/clients, providers, and other staff.
  • Experience/familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel), business e-mail communication systems, and internet search capabilities.

$24.00 DOE
