Paralegal - Statewide Expunction

Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas (LANWT) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our team for the Statewide Expunction Project. As a Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in assisting clients with expunction services, working closely with attorneys to ensure high-quality representation.

• Assist clients with expunction services, providing guidance and support throughout the process.
• Conduct client intake, including initial screenings and referrals to other resources as needed.
• Investigate and develop cases, conducting necessary interviews and gathering information.
• Draft pleadings, orders, and other written materials related to assigned cases.
• File legal papers and interact with court staff, opposing parties, and clients.
• Maintain accurate and organized records and files regarding cases.
• Develop specialized skills and knowledge in assigned areas, staying current on new developments.
• Translate for clients who speak a different language, if applicable.
• Seek supervision and guidance from supervising attorneys on cases and projects.
• Participate in in-house training programs and staff meetings.
• Report caseload statistics and other information to supervisors on a regular basis.

• Associate's degree and paralegal certification preferred.
• Prior experience in legal services, public interest, or volunteer work serving low-income persons preferred.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
• Fluent in Spanish, both verbal and written, is preferred.
• Ability to engage in occasional work-related travel.
