Job Summary

UMass Memorial Health Care is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. As a valued member of our healthcare team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Responsibilities
  1. Assess and obtain patients' basic health status, records, and related data according to standard procedure and needs of patients and their families.
  2. Administer medications, perform treatments as ordered, and operate equipment according to policy and procedure.
  3. Perform venipuncture using aseptic technique, 12 lead EKGs, and administer vaccinations.
  4. Participate in implementation and evaluation of care plan including long and short-term goals, nursing actions, and teaching.
  5. Document patient care according to standard procedure. Records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient condition to Provider and/or RN and assists in analyzing and interpreting patient data.
  6. Assist provider with treatments, procedures, and special tests as required or directed.
  7. Communicate with patients via electronic, telephonic, and in person, per scope of practice.
  8. Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
  9. Maintain a safe environment.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Current Massachusetts licensure required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Knowledge of basic nursing procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Work is of heavy demand, standing and walking most of the time with the possibility of pushing heavy equipment and bending frequently. Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
