Job Title: Lifesaving Manager

Reporting directly to the Director of Animal Services, the Lifesaving Manager is responsible for overseeing all animal outcome-related programs, including adoption, volunteer, foster, marketing/media, community programs, fundraising, and transport. The successful candidate will aid in sustaining a 90% or higher Save Rate and uphold the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) mission and promote its goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the flow of animals through the shelter to promote outcomes and reduce the length of stay
  • Hire, schedule, promote, discipline, and terminate all direct staff
  • Direct work and provide feedback, evaluations, and training for all Adoption Specialists and volunteers
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to aid with animal transports
  • Assume all duties of any paid direct employees on a temporary or emergency basis
  • Monitor timecards for all direct employees and approve and enter time off requests
  • Conduct staff meetings to review procedures and workplace issues, and facilitate improvements and morale
  • Ensure shelter software is consistently utilized, updated, and audited
  • Oversee the shelter's messaging and communication with the community
  • Monitor the volunteer and foster programs' recruitment and retention
  • Manage the shelter's satellite adoption center, ensuring high adoption rates
  • Collaborate with staff to create specific outcome plans as needed
  • Review the monetary donations received to ensure needs are met
  • Correspond with national animal welfare organizations to aid in the shelter's mission
  • Provide 24/7 response to foster families on emergency basis for medical needs and/or approval of emergency medical treatments at alternative facilities
  • Establish, strengthen, and maintain relationships with community agencies, animal welfare organizations, and professional associations
  • Report all loss, risk, and safety issues or conditions to Director
  • Define and develop volunteer and foster standard operating guidelines and ensure compliance within the teams
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities to ensure compliance with industry standards, and to remain current on animal care/control issues
  • Educate the community about shelter programs and host various events
  • Participate in weekly leadership and quarterly Board meetings, prepares agendas, reports, and budgetary updates
  • Act as temporary public information officer for the shelter, making all media decisions, in absence of Director
  • Attend all meetings and trainings, as required
  • Perform special duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • High school diploma and five (5) years of management experience, to include three (3) years animal welfare or community work or four (4) years in development or media; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of animal welfare
  • Demonstrated management knowledge to include basic statistical methods, fiscal and budgeting practices and procedures
  • Previous experience in event planning
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Prior experience with Oracle software, Kronos software, and PetPoint
  • Management Certification
